When we come together, beautiful things happen
Nothing energizes me more than seeing that spark in a person’s eyes when they start to learn about Hamilton Families and our nearly 40-year commitment to serving families experiencing homelessness in the Bay Area.
Last week, we held our Annual Benefit Block Party with hundreds of our dedicated supporters who joined together and raised nearly $400,000 for our work to end family homelessness. At the event, they heard about the great work we’ve been doing to support families, but to be honest, my most fervent wish for Hamilton Families is that we do our work so well that we put ourselves out of business...
That the families we serve are so well set up to succeed that their exit out of homelessness is permanent and secure...
That the kids we serve are set up for social-emotional and educational success, and can envision bright futures for themselves…
That our policy work in partnership with other like-minded stakeholders is so successful that the number of families facing a bout of homelessness dwindles to none.
I know that may sound crazy and idealistic, but I also know that it’s possible.
Maybe not this year or next, but with a community like all of you, a community of #HamiltonHeroes so caring, committed, and tenacious...
...there is no way we can fail.
