As part of BAVC Media’s collaboration with Hamilton Families, with support from Google.org, we are pleased to share two audio documentaries about families experiencing homelessness in the Bay Area. The pieces are airing on KALW 91.7 FM. KALW is a local public radio station that airs the BBC and NPR in San Francisco and the Bay Area. KALW is committed to producing innovative programming including Crosscurrents and Your Call.

BAVC Media is honored to partner with award-winning producer Lisa Rudman who has extensive experience in audio and video production and nonprofit leadership. She is the Development Director at SF Public Press and former Executive Director at Making Contact. Lisa’s roots in community media and public broadcasting go back to PCTV in the late 1980’s where she created award-winning television documentaries on political prisoners, racial justice, US military intervention, social justice, LGBTQ and feminist issues.

Rocheall’s Story 

San Francisco native Rocheall Pierre’s nightmarish experience of pursuing her career as a social worker, but being unable to pay for childcare, then being on the losing side of the inequitable criminal justice system and becoming homeless.
