Established in 1985, Hamilton Families is San Francisco’s leading service provider to families experiencing homelessness.

Our Mission

Hamilton Families’ mission is to end family homelessness in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our pioneering homelessness prevention and housing subsidy programs are nationally recognized. In addition, we provide shelter and stability, and support the well-being of children experiencing homelessness.

 Last year, we served

Meet the families we serve in our documentary short films

Hamilton Families seeks to break the cycle of poverty for the families we serve by supporting families’ efforts to stabilize and thrive as they move from homelessness into housing and settle into their new communities. To help bring attention to the stories of those families, we partnered with San Francisco-based media maker BAVC Media, with support from Google.org, to produce three documentary short films, each on a family who has participated in one of our programs. Watch our New York Times Op-Docs featured film, “What You’ll Remember.”

APRIL 2022

“Rapid re-housing [families] can end up as far away as Sacramento, according to Kyriell Noon, CEO of Hamilton Families, a nonprofit… that connects families with rapid re-housing support. The distance makes it difficult to stay engaged with clients and ensure they’re connected to support services… and, because people of color are disproportionately in need of housing support, the consequences are especially dramatic.”
